Having worked at a variety of companies in a variety of industries over the past 15 years, Scott has always been fascinated by how to change the engineering culture. Over the course of his career he has worked on product teams, platform teams, and in a variety of leadership roles. Where people, technology, and process intersect you find the best problems in my opinion.
The reason he wanted to give this talk is that his team learned so much about the non-technical aspects of running a successful platform transformation by respecting the human factor. So often in our industry we forget that having a strong engineering culture, and influencing it constantly is as big of a factor as the technologies and tools we choose.
