Platform Engineering is rapidly becoming the de facto approach for success with DevOps at scale. We’ve seen with the DevOps movement that while not having a prescriptive model allowed it to flourish amongst the grassroots, we ran into issues once it hit enterprise IT, leaving us so many different definitions of DevOps Engineer that it’s no longer a useful term. Do we need a model? In this talk Nigel will cover some successful and unsuccessful IT models, a short history of attempts to model DevOps, and cover some possible ideas for models we could adopt.
